I have an addiction ... I am addicted to flower gardening.

Every fall I am forced into withdrawal by mother nature. Winter is spent planning, mapping and agonizing over exactly what day I will be able to begin planting. Come Spring there is no stopping me. This year is no exception.

Like a crack whore waiting anxiously on the corner for her next fix I roam the isles at our local nurseries. You don't understand ... this addiction is hard core ... you won't find me in the 'annuals' isles ... no, no ... I can only be found wandering aimlessly in the 'perennial' section. See, I don't have the time to waste with 'annuals' ... I must have perennials ... they are the stronger of the species - they come back to feed my need every spring.

The first day of shopping any stranger will tell you I have a concentrated and calculating stare ... most walk the other direction when they see me. Workers whisper "Did you see that crazed woman!"

On the second day I have already purchased my starter plants (anchor plants in the plan) and walk through the garden centers with a rushed look while grabbing as much as I can and leaving the isles with containers laying all about. Workers cautiously ask if they can help me but I can smell their fear .... they worry that could be sucked into my realm for at least 2 hours of running for plants if they stay to help.

By the third day various workers at all the centers walk up to me with a cardboard boxes and ask if I needed more containers. By now they know I mean business because their bosses have placed my picture on a wall in the break room warning them if they see me they must help me purchase as much as I can ... much like "casino whales" ... I am the garden whale.

I simply can not stay away ... I must buy something, anything any time I go.

I am a Hydrangea.
"You are just a little bit of a show off and like to prove just what you can do. Every time someone double-dog-dared you, you proved that not only could you do it, but you could do it with style."

Take the flower quiz and share what kind of flower are you ... go ahead ... I double dog dare you (she says with her best Wicked Witch of the Midwest Garden laugh)!

Oh Carrie ~ what are we going to do with you?! I'll have you know I planted 3 shasta daisies in my cottage garden this year. As a matter of fact besides shasta, gerber daisies happen to be some of my favorite flowers. How the heck else am I going to teach my kids the joys of "She loves me, she loves me not!"

You can smell their fear. You are so funny!! I wish I was good at gardening, but I live in 0% humidity with clay for dirt and nothing grows. I'll just garden vicariously through you.

Okay, crack whore (hey, you said it first), I am a snap dragon. Loved the quiz but I seriously need your help.
I am in So Cal, and I need something to plant in the planter by my front door, which doesn't get a lot of sun. I will be waiting for the answer.

I'm a daisy too. But I'm okay with that.

Hey… how to I look up the types of flowers and what they mean? I want to see what my friends are...
